So, you've done yoga and
meditation. You've read every important religious and spiritual
text. You've healed your physical and emotional bodies, and you've
created a microcosm in which everything makes sense. There are
spotlights that shine brightly upon these facets of your life. You feel you
have been illuminated. You have had an awakening experience.
Now what?
Then you become aware that the
spotlights only illuminate parts of a whole picture, and suddenly, their
brightness becomes lackluster. You realize that your microcosm is
but one tiny gear in an infinite number of other gears that power...
everything. You always felt that you were profoundly connected to
this everything, but you never understood how. And, there you are again,
searching for answers.
And yet the fundamental stance of enlightenment is: "If you feel rotten about yourself ~ good!
That's the beginning of a correct perception."
~ Ken Wilber
After all is said and done,
after you have explored the workings of the many parts of your self and
your world, how do you then come to terms with your contribution to the
whole and to what end? Interfacing our parts with a whole is what
this section, Integrative Illumination, will explore.
Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it.
~ Norman Maclean
