There are many different ways to achieve and maintain physical health. While regular visits to our medical professionals are important as well as necessary, we Americans often believe that there are no other methods of cure. The strength of western medicine lies in its potential to accurately diagnose disease. Consider, however, that there have also been great strides within the alternative medical fields in the East; Japan has scientifically researched herbal remedies and vitamin supplementation extensively, and as we know, China has been practicing herbal medicine for 2,000 years. Europeans benefit too from the acceptance of alternative treatments, some of which are safer and carry less side effects than most synthetic drugs.
Unlike a decade ago, a multitude of fitness systems are accepted
as beneficial and practiced in gyms all over the Western world. More
and more we see Eastern health philosophies influencing Western
courses of therapy. What most Westerners don't know, however, is
that what works for one may not work for all. Explore what may be
right for you in the Illuminated Body.
Keeping the above information in mind, the links listed are just samplings of the types of alternative treatments which are commonly sought today. Most often, these are used as
adjuncts to regular doctor visits. It is up to each of us to take responsibility for our health and well-being no matter what kind of treatments we choose to receive. Do use common sense as well: if you are not an expert in diagnosing or treating illness, please do not try to do it yourself. If you are ill or think you may be, contact your regular health care practitioner immediately.
The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, not to worry about the future, or not to anticipate troubles, but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly.
